As Chanel and Abe sit by a sleeping Paulina’s side, Kayla enters her hospital room. The thyroidectomy was a success, and based on follow-up tests, Paulina’s recovery is progressing as hoped. However, due to the scar tissue from the heart attack, she’ll have a long road to recovery and may need a heart transplant. Abe catches a faltering Chanel. Paulina wakes up wondering what’s going on.

Johnny finds EJ working on DiMera business in the living room. He’s surprised as Nicole saunters in and then learns that Holly is home as well. After he catches EJ and Nicole up on Paulina’s health condition, he tells them he and Chanel got married. EJ playfully ribs Johnny for not inviting them to the wedding, but he sees how much Chanel improves his life and that they complement each other. He gives his blessing. EJ assumes they’ll move into a wing in the house, while Nicole muses they’ll become digital nomads. Johnny says they haven’t even had a chance to talk about it, but he feels like they’ll want a place of their own.

Upon getting called in, Everett meets Chad in the interrogation room. Before Everett can tell Chad about Bobby, Jada enters to discuss the attempted murder of Lucas Horton. A stunned Everett marvels over the story not getting leaked. “You think you’re the only one who can keep a secret?” Jada snarks. Only a select group of people knew of Lucas’ location. Which means someone gave it up, and they’re determined to find out who.

Chad insists they had nothing to do with it, declaring Lucas was Abigail’s uncle. Why would he put his family at risk? Jada pointedly looks at Everett and says, “Some people don’t view family the way most of us do.” Chad cocks a brow. Everett affirms they would never betray Lucas, who provided them with valuable information. As Jada further questions them, Chad picks up on her hostility toward Everett.

Jada asks why they visited Clyde in Statesville. Everett explains it was part of their article on the drug trade. Jada mocks “Woodward and Bernstein.” Chad assures her he only wants pain and sorrow for his wife’s murderer. Jada gets that, but wonders about Everett’s connection to the felon. In fact, it’s hard to tell who he has a connection to these days, “Mr. Stein.” Everett insists his only interest in Clyde is as a journalist. Everett’s word means nothing to Jada. So, she’ll sit there until they tell her something she actually believes.

Visiting a comatose Holly in her room, Johnny tells her it hasn’t been the same around there without her. He misses the smell of macaroons that Chef makes her, watching her draw while listening to Adele, and their fencing lessons. He tears up, saying how much he misses her. He promises to be back to visit soon.

At the hospital, Kayla sends Chanel to get some ice chips and then leaves Abe and Paulina alone. Abe tells Paulina she gave them quite a scare, but she can’t leave now that they just got back together. Paulina assures him no one is leaving anyone. “I love you to the moon and back, Abe Carver.” However, she needs him to promise he’ll take care of her girls if something happens. He promises, but he knows she’ll be there for them and for their children. And he’ll be right by her side.

After Jada leaves the interrogation room to make some phone calls, Chad wonders why she’s coming after Everett so hard. Everett fills him in on Bobby while defending himself. Chad furiously yells that he doesn’t believe a word he says. He’s been lying since he came to Salem. Chad blames Everett for ruining his relationship with Stephanie, but Everett retorts Chad did that all on his own. Jada returns as Chad rages. Jada releases them, but advises they not leave town. Chad departs.

Everett apologizes to Jada for not remembering them being together, but his words mean nothing to Jada. She just wishes she could stop remembering how great things were when they first met at a farmer’s market. He genuinely wants to make things right and tells her about his therapy. He wants to remember. All she wants is to forget. “Let’s hope one of us gets what we want.”

Johnny finds a teary-eyed Chanel at the Hospital coffee station. She tells him about Paulina and falls into his arms. “I can’t lose her,” she sobs. Johnny assures her whatever happens, Paulina has their support. When Eli calls her phone, Chanel hesitates to answer, wondering what to tell him.

Johnny and Chanel return to Paulina’s room to relay that Lani’s been released. Lani and Eli will be there tomorrow.

After EJ and Nicole visit with Holly in her room, Holly’s hand twitches.
