Kayla just delivered some good news and bad news to Paulina, Chanel and Abe on Days of Our Lives today. (You can read the recap here.) The good news: the thyroidectomy went great. The bad? Paulina’s heart attack caused considerable damage, which means she may need a heart transplant! And that, of course, also led to some good news/bad news for the viewers.

First off, Lani’s finally out of prison and she and Eli are coming home. That’s incredible news no matter how you slice it. But, unfortunately… it may be to say goodbye. Because if Paulina’s rehab isn’t enough and she can’t get a heart transplant in time, this could end up killing her!

Heart transplants are about as serious as it comes, but to even get to that point, she’ll have to find a donor. It sounds like there’s still time yet, but hearts don’t just drop out of the sky. Heck, it took years of Stefan waiting on ice before he could get a match from twin Jake. And since we’re guessing Paulina doesn’t have a twin out there just waiting to drop dead and donate, we don’t see the same thing happening for her.

But we have a feeling we know who will be offering up their heart to play hero one final time: Harris.

Wait, what? But he just woke up from being shot! He’s out of the woods! Sure, maybe for now, but his life is still very much in danger. If Stefan wants to remain a free man, he’s got to make sure Harris never remembers who actually shot him. The only way to guarantee that is if he’s dead. But even if Stefan can’t quite make himself commit cold-blooded murder of a man in the hospital, that doesn’t mean Harris is safe.

Clyde wants him dead and gone. He was willing to let Stefan skate with Harris just in a coma, but barely. Now that he’s awake, it’s back to gunning for his life and we already know he’s got at least one henchwoman willing to take a life. Though Officer Goldman does do remarkably well at playing the remorseful, reluctant killer!

We know Steve Burton’s on his way out at Days of Our Lives as Jason is heading back to General Hospital. And we also know that he showed up as Harris just about a year ago, last March. The timing is pretty much perfect for him to be making his exit in a couple weeks, and how better to do that than by going out as a hero, saving Mayor Paulina Price’s life with one last gift?

Of course, if not Harris, that means someone else could be about to die. Someone we never expected to say goodbye to. But we suppose that’s just another day of life and death in Salem.
