After getting a call from Justin that Xander’s being released, Sarah rushes to the interrogation room. Xander explains that since Harris can’t ID him as the shooter, Justin convinced the judge to let him out on bail. They’re surprised EJ allowed that to happen. But more importantly, he’ll be home. They kiss deeply.

As Ava tries to get rid of Stefan at her door, Harris comes out to the living room. He explains that Stefan is the one who shot him. Ava slaps Stefan, who insists he didn’t have a choice. Harris declares they both had a choice. If Ava had come to him, maybe none of the drama with Clyde would have happened. Ava agrees that she should have trusted him.

In the hospital, Chanel, Johnny, and Abe gather around Paulina, celebrating the fact that she’ll be home soon. They all make plans to see Eli and Lani this summer, but first, Paulina suggests the newlyweds enjoy some time alone together. She orders them to go home and get some rest. After they comply, Paulina instructs her husband to give her some sugar. He happily leans in to kiss her.

Roman and Kate stop by, thrilled to see Paulina doing so well. Abe also confirms he remembers everything about the old days when he and Roman were partners. Paulina reports she’s going home with Abe tomorrow and then she’s back to work as mayor. Kate doesn’t understand the turnaround in her condition. After conferring with Abe, Paulina explains how a white light washed over her and she was healed. Abe adds he got his memory back at the same time.

As they stroll through the Square, Chanel tells Johnny that despite the circumstances, their simple wedding was perfect. Johnny agrees, but they didn’t get their first dance as husband and wife. They wrap their arms around each other and sway. When Johnny notes there’s one more thing they haven’t done as husband and wife, they head for the Salem Inn.

Sarah and Xander come home while Victoria is with Maggie. Xander can’t wait to see his daughter tomorrow, but for now, “Tonight is all ours.” They kiss, which leads to making out on the couch half-naked.

At the apartment, Stefan defends Ava to Harris, but Ava again agrees they should have trusted the detective. Stefan declares everyone lived, so no harm, no foul. Harris calls Stefan a disgusting piece of work. “What about her?” Stefan angrily wonders before telling Harris that they slept together.

A contrite Ava tries to explain to Harris that they drank too much one night, but Harris doesn’t care. That was then, this is now. Stefan states if he goes down for this, he’s taking Ava with him. Harris counters that if Stefan takes the blame for being Clyde’s partner, while making it clear Ava was coerced, he’ll keep his shooter’s identity a secret. Stefan will get a lighter sentence for drug trafficking and money laundering than he would for the attempted murder of a police officer. Stefan considers. Harris shouts that he has until tomorrow morning to turn himself in, or the deal is off — and Stefan won’t like what happens next.

Sarah wakes up on the couch as Xander somberly sits at the table. He wipes his eye as she wraps her arms around him. He explains he had a dream where he couldn’t get to her and Victoria. He knows it represents his fear of going to prison for attempted murder. He couldn’t handle being away from her and Victoria again. Sarah kisses and embraces him.

While they get coffee in the hospital lobby, Abe confides in Roman that Lexie is the one who brought the miracle to him and Paulina. But now that he has his memories of Lexie back, he feels disloyal to Paulina. Roman urges him not to let his memories overshadow what he has with Paulina.

In her room, Paulina worries to Kate that after being apart for so long, her personality will be too much for Abe. Understanding what it’s like to be with someone more lowkey, Kate reassures her. They express how much they appreciate each other’s friendship.

In their apartment, Xander wonders if he’s being punished for his past. Sarah believes people grow and change, and Xander is proving that. Xander muses that she and Victoria might be better off without him. Sarah orders him to listen to her. She wants him in her and Victoria’s life because he’s important to them. They express their love, and she leads him to the bedroom.

Johnny and Chanel rip each other’s clothes off as they enter their hotel room. Later, Chanel says she feels like nothing can wrong while lying in his arms. Johnny feels the same and suggests they stay there for a few days. He knows she’s tired after all she’s been through. He gently kisses her. “Goodnight, beautiful.”

Alone at the apartment, Ava assures Harris what happened between her and Stefan meant nothing. Despite his calm demeanor, she knows he’s angry. He states they can’t change the past. They can only move forward. She wonders why he’s protecting her. “Because I love you and I know you love me.” He heard her say it while he was in the hospital. She tears up, assuring him she meant it. “I love you, Harris.”

Upon finding the Pub closed, Stefan wonders what a guy has to do to get a drink around here. “I take the fall for everything, while she gets off scot-free,” Stefan grumbles. “We’ll see about that.”

Next, on Days of Our Lives, Konstantin reminds Theresa of their plan, and EJ searches for Stefan.
