General Hospital Spoilers: Betty Rutherford Is More Than Sonny’s Enemy; She’s His Daughter

General Hospital spoilers reveal Betty Rutherford (Ella Lentini) has more on her mind than just satisfying her boss’ requests. In fact, she knows exactly what she’s after and from whom.

Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) isn’t just any mobster to her; he’s her father. It all started many moons ago when Sonny thought he lost his first wife, Lily Corinthos (Lilly Melgar), in a car bomb explosion.

Sound familiar? The attack was, of course, meant for him, and staged by Lily’s father — Hernando Rivera (Ismael ‘East’ Carlo) — who didn’t approve of their marriage.

Allegedly unaware his daughter was newly pregnant with the mob kingpin’s child, he staged the whole thing to make it look as though Lily died — but some fans have long suspected that Hernando actually kidnapped his daughter to keep her away from Sonny. Does that mean her child survived?

General Hospital Spoilers — Lily Corinthos Didn’t Die

Word on the street is that Lily is alive and well. Hold on to your Prada bag, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros). If Nina thinks Carly Spencer Spencer (Laura Wright) and Ava Jerome (Maura West) are competition enough, she’s got another thing coming when Sonny learns the first woman to truly win his heart enough to give her his name is still out there sporting it.

Given that it’s been 27 years since we last saw Lily, it’s likely that Hernando not only kidnapped her but brainwashed her against Sonny, too.

That means it’s not likely that the child she gave birth to all those years ago grew up hearing anything but horror stories about their father. Was that person Betty?

Fans are giddy with delight over the suspicion that Betty might actually be Sonny’s daughter with Lily. All of these years, many theories have come and gone that enemies who’ve come to Port Charles might have secretly been his son, but few have entertained the idea that Lily gave birth to a little girl.

And why can’t she be every bit as sinister? If the boss ordering Betty around happened to come into information on Sonny and Betty’s connection and decided to exploit her anger toward her absent father, who’s stopping him?

Moreover, it’s quite possible that the boss man ordering Mason Gatlin (Nathanyael Grey) and Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth) around all of this time has been Hernando himself.

What is Betty really here for? Does she actually want to see her father in ruins?

General Hospital Spoilers — She Had Help

It’s possible that Betty could have had some help figuring out how to target her dear old dad. Juan Santiago (Michael Saucedo) was born to Lily prior to her ever meeting Sonny — the child of another man that her father forced her to give up for adoption.

Later, it was Sonny who tracked Juan down to reunite him with his birth mother. While it’s been nearly a decade since Juan last appeared in Port Chuck, that doesn’t mean he has maintained any respect for the mob boss in his absence.

Juan struggled with addiction, and it’s possible that he could have gone off the rails since we last saw him — leading him to conspire with Betty to get back at the father she was conditioned to hate.
