General Hospital (GHG) spoilers and updates question if Lois Cerullo is being written out of GH since Rena Sofer is off contract. Based on the show credits at the end of the February 23 episode, she’s dropped to recurring-meaning she’ll still pop in, but not quite as often.
General Hospital Spoilers – Rena Sofer’s Contract Was Short-Term
Viewers must remember that Rena’s contract was short-term to begin with, but dropping to recurring doesn’t mean Lois has been completely written out.
Actually, there are several characters on quite a bit who have never been contract but recurring-Rena’s real life and GH ex, Wally Kurth who plays Ned Quartermaine is one.
James Patrick Stuart, who plays Valentin Cassadine is another who has never been on contract but recurring.
Often, being on a recurring basis allows actors more freedom to work on other projects-for instance, Wally plays both Ned on GH and Justin Kiriakis on Days of Our Lives.
It’s not known if Rena might return to her previous soap, The Bold and The Beautiful as Quinn Forrester-likely not since her tv son there has left the show.
GH Spoilers – Rena Sofer Was Asked To Return A Short Amount Of Time
Last October, Rena gave an interview to Soap Opera Digest and clarified Executive Producer Frank Valentini asked if she’d return for a “short amount of time”. She referred to herself as a “guest” and mentioned “walking into these months of work with a lot of gratitude”.
It may seem surprising given that, that she has stayed as long as she has-but after the “Eddie Maine” storyline ended, she has, and there is good reason given current storylines.
For one thing, she has to fix a longterm relationship as Lois with another character-Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) and for another, her tv daughter is getting married.
Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) is marrying Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) and Lois is a big part of that wedding and everything leading up to it.
General Hospital Spoilers – Rena Sofer Had Taken Some Well-Deserved Time Off In Between
Rena mentioned on her social media post Bold and Beautiful that she was taking some well-deserved time off to work on her pottery line and other avocations.
She’d been working fairly constantly for several years as Quinn, so the break came at a good time for her, and when Frank called her to reprise Lois, she was ready.
Viewers can be fairly certain Lois will remain at least until after the wedding and perhaps pop in now and then after.
It’s not likely to be a gap of twenty or thirty years like it was the last time, that’s for sure. And if and when Chase and Brook Lynn start a family, Lois will surely pop in to play Grandma!
