It’s the Santa Barbara reunion we only dreamed we’d ever get. Years after former co-stars were re-paired on General Hospital as Alexis Davis and Cameron Lewis, Nancy Lee Grahn and Lane Davies are getting a third go-round, the actress shared on Instagram. “It never gets old, we do,” she laughed. “Lookin’ forward to another romp.”

Starting May 22, according to TV Insider, Davies will play Fergus Byrne, an attorney who crosses paths and perhaps matches wits (?) with Alexis. It was two decades ago that the Santa Barbara leads — revered for the sparks they threw as daytime’s wittiest couple, Mason and Julia — were made co-stars again by General Hospital when Davies joined the cast as Xander Smith’s father.

Here’s hoping that things go better for Fergus than they did for Cameron, who was killed by falling debris during the Port Charles Hotel Fire of 2004. Already, Davies’ new character shows promise. And no, it’s not a coincidence  that his surname is Byrne — the same as Alexis’ late lover, Neil. In fact, the two men are brothers.

You may recall that we’ve been warned of this character’s arrival, as well as the role he’ll play in Alexis’ attempts to regain her law license. Given that he oversaw the procedures which cost Alexis the ability to practice law, Diane has been hoping that the personal connection might be seen as a reason to overturn the original ruling. (If that means Diane and Alexis working together, a dream we’ve had for ages, we’re all for it!)

Might Fergus see in Alexis the same thing his late brother did?

In any case, it’s a good thing that Grahn and Davies got past their issues of eons ago on Santa Barbara. Back then, she admitted just last year, “I was falling madly — and I stress madly — in love with Lane.” Caught up in Mason and Julia’s romantic storyline, she fell prey to “pitfalls.” (Read her full remarks here.)
