Those watching the May 20th episode of General Hospital witnessed the moment we’ve all been dreading, the death of Finn and Chase’s father Gregory, which means actor Gregory Harrison has exited the ABC soap. The character, which has been played by Harrison, who took over the role from Days of Our Lives’ James Read (Clyde) in 2020, was diagnosed with ALS back in April 2023.

Sadly, it was clear in Monday’s scene that the star’s time with the soap had come to an end when Gregory settled in for bed, closed his eyes and images from the past played out in his mind. Viewers saw flashes from his youth, pics of him with his boys, conversations between him, Finn and Chase, moments with his granddaughter Violet and fun times with Alexis, as well as him being able to see Chase marry Brook Lynn. And as he appeared to fall asleep, we just knew… Gregory had passed away peacefully.

While Gregory’s death most certainly is going to leave his family and friends grieving for long time coming, Harrison’s time on the soap will always be remembered by his fans and we can’t wait to see where his career takes him next. Though he’s not in the mix for a Daytime Emmy Award for his work from 2023, his 2024 scenes could very well bring him a golden statuette next year.
