Our very own Emmerdale veteran is making ITV comeback after nine long years. Sammy Winward (Katie Sugden) is coming back on our screens. The audience loved Sammy as Katty. Previously, she graced our screens for about 15 years on Emmerdale.
The actress’s social media posts promoting her upcoming show reveal her excitement. Certainly, it’s the same for her fans, too, as they will finally get to see their favorite after such a long period. And certainly, she’ll keep us entertained just as she has in the past. Emmerdale: After Being A Teacher For Nine Years, Sammy Winward Is Back On The Screen
Sammy Winward was popularly known as Katie Sugden in Emmerdale. She played the role of Katie from the year 2001 to 2015. After leaving the show, she started working as an acting teacher. In her personal life, Sammy married her childhood sweetheart, Martyn Hardy. The Emmerdale former star also has a daughter, Mia, with her former fiancé, footballer David Dunn.
Now, the actress is all set to return on ITV in the new drama, The Long Shadow. The story revolves around the story of Peter Sutcliffe, a serial killer. His hunt has been going on for the past 5 years. Sammy will be playing the role of his wife, Sonia Sutcliffe. The expectations from the show are quite high as it has got an amazing cast, Toby Jones, Lee Ingleby, and Katherine Kelly, to name a few.
When asked about her exit storyline as Katie, the Emmerdale veteran said, “It’s probably best that she was killed off. Now I won’t be looking over my shoulder all the time thinking: ‘What if I went back?’ It’s a clean cut.” Lately, the actress has been seen posting a lot about her upcoming show on Instagram. As she revealed her first look from the show, she wrote, “I’m going to be so boring over the coming months posting a lot about this show, so apologies in advance.” This totally sums up how excited she is about her return.
