Just how long can a love triangle last on The Young and the Restless? Well, apparently there is a shelf life where the Christine/Danny/Phyllis saga is concerned — at least for Lauralee Bell and Michael Damian. The dynamic duo gave Soaps.com their unfiltered thoughts on Phyllis constantly being a thorn in Christine’s side and why Danny continues to play into the torn-between-two-lovers scenario. Let’s just say, the clock is ticking!

Bell dives right into why Christine “couldn’t handle it anymore” with Danny waffling back and forth between the two women. “Either you have to make a decision today or I’m done because this is just not fun,” she says of Christine’s frustration with Danny’s indecisiveness. “And, when Cricket and Danny are together, we equate that with fun and romance and simplicity. Obviously, a Phyllis drop in here and there like back in the day [is fine]. [But] I think it’s time, quite frankly. It’s either ‘This is it or we’re done.’ ” That’s quite the ultimatum, but Damian is on the same page even if Danny couldn’t make the decision for himself.

“And thank you, by the way, for doing that,” he chimes in with a smile about Christine’s relationship maneuver.

“Hello, otherwise this could go on forever,” Bell responds. “But it seems like you were ready to leave anyway. I think there’s a little bit of Danny Romalotti that loves the fan attention, the woman attention. And it just seems very normal to him.” There is a lot at stake for Danny in choosing to settle down with one woman — and fans know that we’ve been there before. Damian explains why Danny finally had his lightning rod moment in this volatile love situation.

“When Danny woke up and realized, ‘Oh, are you crazy to be even taking a chance of possibly losing [Christine] again? He came to his senses fast,” he says.

Bell then quips, “And I love that Daniel’s on Cricket’s side.”

“Yeah. He told me to wake up too,” adds Damian. Geez, even Daniel (Michael Graziadei) knew it was time. Everyone needs a break from the flip-flopping, especially Danny and Christine, which means Phyllis has hit a wall in the romance department. Damian and Bell hope to showcase more of their characters’ “happiness and champagne and roses” like “back in the day” which means the “Bug” is squashed… at least for now.
