At Society, Phyllis tells Abby that if tonight goes as planned, it could be the start of something really amazing. She’s having dinner with Danny and he’s making her his special sauce. Abby surmises that he doesn’t want to be alone with her. He wants to be somewhere with witnesses. Spotting some lingering diners, Phyllis wants to chase them out but Abby orders her to leave them alone.

Danny arrives outside with Christine. He tells her she didn’t have to come but she worries about leaving him with Phyllis, no matter how delicate their conversation is supposed to be. The lawyer is sure that Phyllis will twist what he says so he needs an audience so she can’t misrepresent everything. He agrees but asks her to give him a second to defuse this thing before it can blow up.

Danny and Christine prepare to see Phyllis Y&R

When he enters, Phyllis happily welcomes him. She’s not happy when she sees Christine walk in. Declaring this a private dinner, the redhead asks her to go. Linking her arm with Danny’s, Christine says that’s not going to happen. “Okay! I’m going to leave you to your evening. Try not to destroy anything,” Abby says, backing away. Phyllis repeats this was supposed to be private. Is he breaking his promise? “He is,” says Cricket, accusing her of trying to trap him into a romantic dinner. Her enemy claims it was just a friendly goodbye dinner. Danny apologizes and never should have agreed to this. Phyllis is sure that Christine must have pitched a fit and suggests she’s trying to control his life. Christine repeats he won’t be having dinner with her and Phyllis wonders if he will let “this jealous witch” ruin their evening. Turning to Christine, he asks her to let him talk to his other ex alone. He asks her to wait 15 minutes. Insisting that she’s changed, Phyllis tells Christine not to let the door hit her on the way out. As she exits, Christine is sure to say, “His sauce is spectacular.”

Phyllis is relieved that she’s gone. The last of the diners exit and Phyllis pulls out a bottle of wine, adding they can scrounge up some nuts. Bracing her arms, he says there won’t be nuts or anything else between them tonight or in the future. He never should have agreed to this dinner. She’s sure there’s part of him that can’t say no to her. “Christine wins,” she says soberly, recognizing that he is choosing the other woman. He’s sorry he gave her the wrong impression. Phyllis thinks he wants her but chickened out. Danny says he only wants to be her friend and never wanted more than that. He thinks she just thinks she has these feelings for him because she has no friends right now, but one day she will. Claiming she understands, she tells him to have a good life. He exits.

Danny and Phyllis discuss his choice Y&R

Abby walks over to check on her. Phyllis stands there with her mouth open. Sitting at a table, she starts to drink. Abby says that scene with Christine was pretty intense. Phyllis just doesn’t get why Danny loves a woman who is so boring. She wins again. “Not that it’s a competition because she’s no competition for me,” she adds. When she wonders why Abby even cares, Abby admits that she may not like her, but she saw how much effort she put in and it all fell apart. Maybe she’s lying to herself and this was all about beating Christine? “Trust me it wasn’t…but now it is,” Phyllis says, smiling as she vows to make her old enemy pay.

Danny catches up with Christine at Crimson Lights. He explains that everything was “civilized” with Phyllis and he told her they have no future other than being parents to Daniel. The lawyer is amazed she didn’t make a scene but he insists she was gracious. This worries Cricket even more. Danny knows what a challenge this has been for her but she’s not the same Phyllis as she used to be. He’s sure the “circus” is different this time and his ex is ready to accept the truth about them. She admits he may have been right about her being too willing to engage. She’s sorry if she made him uncomfortable and unhappy. He tells her how inspired he is by her and they kiss. Christine repeats he’s no door prize: he’s the man she’s falling back in love with. The singer suggests they talk about his tour instead of Phyllis and asks what her agenda is for the next six weeks. If she’s free, he wants her to come so he can sing to her every night like old times.

Summer finds Chance sitting alone at the bar in the Athletic Club. He was just thinking about her and they kiss. They’ve been missing each other and he asks her to join him for dinner and they can recap their days. She says that sounds like something a real couple would do. Summer has a different idea.

They get a suite and Summer suggests room service. She hopes he’s in the mood for the same thing as him. As they get close, she says, “French fries.” She orders them along with some wine and a hot fudge sundae. Chance is impressed. Summer says the kitchen is backed up so it will take half an hour. He wonders if she’s going to tell him about her day. They make out instead. As they kiss, they undress each other and climb into bed.

After sex, he wonders how he got so lucky. “You said ‘Yes’,” she says. She’s been thinking of him all day and was going to call him for a nightcap. When she saw him earlier, she took it as a sign. He teases this means they are a real couple now. After she falls asleep, he checks his messages. Devon sent him one asking for a more detailed proposal about the music festival. Chance is enthusiastic.

Nikki and Victor arrive at The Empty Glass Lounge and she asks a cop what happened. They tell her the witness claimed that Seth said, “Tell Nikki Newman I’m sorry,” before jumping into traffic. Nikki is aghast. She starts blaming herself but her husband assures her it’s because of the maniac after her. He questions a bartender about Isabelle and gets a description. Calling over a cop, he asks her to lift the DNA and fingerprints off Isabelle’s glass. He’s sure that Seth didn’t step in front of that car of his own volition. Staring at a bottle, all she wants to do is drink. She begs her husband to take her home.

At the Newman ranch, Claire picks up and stares at a family photo as her mom walks in. Claire says she would have been in some of these if Jordan hadn’t ruined her life. Victoria assures her she will be in future pictures. Her daughter worries she won’t fit in and points out she could end up like Adam. Maybe she should talk to him since he knows what it’s like to have to adapt to the Newman world? Victoria doesn’t think that’s a good idea. Her daughter can’t imagine everyone forgiving her but Victoria says that she’s where she belongs and hugs her. The phone starts ringing. They assume it is Jordan. Victoria reminds her that she’s in control of her future now. Claire finally answers but it takes her a second to speak up. Jordan assumes that Nikki gave her the number and thinks she’s called to rub being released in her face. Has she finally realized she made a mistake or have the Newmans already turned on her? She reminds her of their bond and tells her the Newmans hate her. Claire protests they have been wonderful and given her a real home. Her aunt accuses her of stabbing her in the heart and tells her they only want to deceive her before grinding her into nothing. Victor will use her and throw her out like trash. Her niece says she doesn’t know them and how kind they can be. She has a message from Victor. He’s ready to do whatever she wants within reason to make amends for what happened to Eve. Chortling, Jordan imagines what it would be like to have Victor on his knees begging for mercy. She nearly chokes when Claire calls Victoria her mother and sarcastically asks if they are eating marshmallows. Getting off the line, she says she will be in touch and asks Claire to give Nikki her best.

Victoria and Claire talk Jordan on edge Y&R

In an alley, Jordan paces and rants about “that spiteful brat,” declaring that they all need to be taught a lesson. She spots a gas can. After taking a huff of it, she says the fun doesn’t have to end yet.

Back at the ranch, Claire tells her mother that Jordan seemed to have more of an edge than usual. Nikki and Victor file in. Once he sends Claire off to get some chamomile tea, he explains that Jordan has struck again. After they sit down, Victor explains that Seth died and that Jordan must have pushed him into oncoming traffic. This worries Victoria but her father says they will be safe as long as they are at the ranch. Victoria explains that Claire spoke to her aunt, who was intrigued by his proposition. That sounds good to her father, who says that his plan is now in motion so this will all be over soon. When Claire returns, she explains her aunt was amped up and rattled on the phone. This pleases Victor, who wants her unbalanced. Victoria gets a call. Her house is on fire.
