At Chancellor-Winters, Billy scoffs at Lily questioning him about what he really wants at the company. It sounds like she’s interviewing him for the job. Lily’s being serious. Billy wants to do a good job, and wants to bring value to the company that Katherine loved. He wants trust from his team and to be a good example for his kids. Lily thinks there’s more. Billy wants to protect his mother’s legacy. Lily wants to know what’s in it for him and warns him not to lie or she’ll see right through it.

Billy tells Lily, “I see it, OK. It’s all become very clear.” He has a new perspective and won’t get bored. She can tell Devon that there’s zero chance that he’s moving on. He sees a future where Chancellor-Winters soars to new heights. She asks how he plans to accomplish that. Billy says, “Not me. We.” He pictures them working side-by-side the way it was meant to be. Lily laughs as Billy protests, “We can do this!”

Lily asks what would happen to Devon, Nate, Chance, and his mother. Billy says they’ll all have a seat at the table, with Devon getting the biggest piece of the pie. Lily says Devon would never go for this. Billy thinks it’s his golden opportunity to focus on music. Once he stops tripping over his ego, he’ll love it. Lily calls him delusional and asks, “What about Jill?” Billy says she’s grooming him to be her replacement. Lily asks, “She said that?” Billy knows how to read her. Lily’s convinced she’s not going anywhere, but Billy thinks she still wants the two of them to take the reins, just as she did back at the beginning.

At Crimson Lights, Nick greets Sally and asks if she’s heard from Adam. She updates that as of last night they were still in Baltimore. The last thing Adam wanted to do was send Connor away, but he eventually agreed with Chelsea about the treatment. Nick’s glad they’re on the same page.

In a car, Chelsea asks Adam to thank Victor for letting them use the Newman jet. Adam says his father wouldn’t have it any other way. Chelsea checks her phone and Adam reminds her the doctor told them not to expect to hear from Connor today. She just thought, if there was a problem… Adam shakes his head. “If there’s a problem? There is no ‘if’ here, Chelsea. There is a problem.” He rants about leaving their son alone with strangers. Chelsea hates this too! Adam apologizes. That wasn’t right or helpful. He’ll go online and set up Connor’s petty cash fund at home. Chelsea hopes he finds something there he’s not afraid to eat. They chat about the sports facilities, which were OK. Chelsea’s glad it’s warmer there. Adam nods, “That is true.” The car stops and Chelsea gets out, telling Adam to call her if he hears anything and she’ll do the same.

At Crimson Lights, Sally tells Nick it’s a miracle to see him and Adam acting like brothers. Nick says Adam listened to him when he said he needed to be the one to tell Victor about Connor. Sally says Victor’s been great. Nick’s just sorry he couldn’t convince him to bring her business into Newman. Sally says, “Don’t be.” She’s found out the idea might not be so dead after all.

Sally tells Nick that Adam thinks Victor can be persuaded to change his mind. She’s not completely sold on the idea anyway. Right now, she just wants to support Adam. Nick asks if she’s doing OK. Sally admits she’s been wondering if making the transition to interior designer was a mistake. Nick tells her she’s amazing and has a lot of talents. Her skills will translate into any field, and he’s there for anything she needs. Sally says he’s done more than enough and she’ll be OK. She then asks him to stop talking about her and tell her how he’s doing. Nick says he’s cool, Christian is great, the Newmans are hanging tough, and he has everything he needs.

In the car, Adam thinks about Connor pleading with him to come home. He tells the driver there’s been a change of plans and he’s not going straight home after all.

At Chancellor-Winters, Billy tells Lily they’re ready for this. They know each other’s strengths and weaknesses. He understands her reluctance and her loyalty to her brother, but Devon’s a lone wolf who can’t play well with others. He’s not a dreamer like they are. Chancellor and Winters butting heads isn’t good. With them in charge, they can bring the new company to great heights. “We can do it together.”

In her suite, Sally is sketching a dress when a knock comes at the door — it’s Adam looking emotionally spent. He steps inside and embraces her.

At the Club, Nick spots Lily and asks about Mattie. Lily says she’s doing well. She’s an adult but wanted her mom. They agree it’s nice to be wanted by their adult children. Since they’re both there for lunch, they decide to eat together.

Lily loops her arm through his and they head to a table, where they spar verbally about big business. Nick tells her Victor has him and Adam working together while Victoria takes a break. Lily laughs and says it’s clearly going well as he there are black eyes. Nick says it’s actually been cool. They want to make it work. Nick asks, “What does Chancellor-Winters have that can top that. I bet nothing.” Lily says nothing for now, but time will tell. Nick asks about her and Daniel. Lily says they broke up, “He and Heather are back together.”

Nick tells Lily he’s sorry, he didn’t know about Daniel and Heather. Lily says that’s OK. Nick has been on both sides of the equation and knows it can be tough. Lily is sure it made for awkward family gatherings. Nick says things have gotten better. “Things are what they are, and I’m moving forward.” He doesn’t expect her to embrace that yet, but at least she doesn’t have to endure the family gatherings. Nick muses that he’s had time to get over things, but it’s raw and new for Lily. He urges her to let the past be the past and look forward. “I’m going to shut up now, I’m so sorry.” Lily asks, “Sorry for what?” She finds it a good reminder and will focus on the company and making herself better. Nick says that’s exactly what he’s trying to do with Newman. He congratulates her on not wallowing. Lily chuckles and says Billy mentioned her fighting spirit earlier. It’s good to hear.

At Crimson Lights, Chelsea tells Billy they got Connor settled in, but things are more complicated than they expected.

In Sally’s suite, she recalls that Adam was supposed to be gone for a week. Why is he back so soon? Adam grits, “They uh, they made us leave.” He says the facility was just as the website promised, but when you look past it, you see the marketing to sell their brand of therapy. Sally asks why they made him and Chelsea leave. Adam’s not sure he wants to get into it. Sally can’t help him if he doesn’t tell her what happened. Adam says Connor had his first session with the OCD therapist, who had a wall full of diplomas. But they could be forgeries for all he knows.

At Crimson Lights, Chelsea tells Billy the facility felt more welcoming than she imagined and the boys there seemed at home. She explains that after Connor’s session with the OCD specialist, they met with the doctors and the family therapist and they briefed them on the specialist’s conclusions. They were kind and knowledgeable, which was encouraging… at first. “After speaking with the OCD specialist, the doctors strongly encouraged us to let the team take over fo the next few weeks without either one of us around.” Billy asks why. Chelsea says, “According to them, Adam and I are two of the triggers for Connor’s OCD.” Chelsea explains this is what Connor told them. Her breakdown caused him guilt. He thinks her suicide attempt was his fault. Billy can only imagine how devastating this must be for her. But it’s important to remember this is temporary. “This is where it starts to get better.” Connor’s in good hands, so they have to trust their reputation and her instinct. It’s understandable to separate Connor from a trigger. Maybe they’re trying to rule it out as a trigger.

Chelsea wipes tears. It’s breaking her heart to think her son is in so much pain because of her. Billy asks about next steps. Chelsea says they’ll start him on ERP treatment where they expose him to his fears in a controlled atmosphere to teach him how to deal with it. Billy guesses they build up his toolkit, so the compulsions don’t control him. Chelsea cries that Connor has to suffer to get better! Billy reminds her they’re trained specialists, who will go slow. “It’s going to be OK. He’s going to get through this.” Right now, it’s important to make sure they get her through the waiting period. “I’m not going to let you go through this alone.” Billy asks how Adam’s been. Chelsea says he barely kept it together. Billy recaps that Connor’s in good hands. Chelsea cries that the only way she can help her son is by staying away from him. “It’s devastating.”

In Sally’s suite, Adam tells her the doctors blamed everything on him and Chelsea. “According to them, we did this to our son!” Sally can’t understand how they reached this conclusion so quickly. Adam doesn’t believe a word that comes out of their mouths. Adam explains that Connor sees himself as a bad son and blames himself for their problems. Sally wonders, “That didn’t come from Connor, did it?” Adam says they claim it did. He complains that the parents they are trying to blame pay their salaries. Sally reminds him this is not about the money, “This is about you hurting.”

Adam wonders how the doctors would feel if they were banned from seeing their children when they’re going through the most painful time of his life. He could sue them into bankruptcy. Sally tells him his energy and focus need to be on his son, not on some lawsuit that Connor would probably blame himself for too. Adam just wanted to explode as they sat there. “I couldn’t do it.” Sally thinks he should be proud of controlling himself. Adam doesn’t know what to do. Sally says, “Not yet. You’ve never been through anything like this, which is exactly why you need to give yourself a chance to calm down.” He should do nothing until his mind clears. Adam has a question and needs the truth. “Am I wrong here? Am I angry at the wrong people here? Is there a chance they could be right?” Sally’s not qualified to answer that. Adam needs to know if he failed his son. “What if he really is better off without me? Huh?”

Adam declares that if he caused this, he should be out of his life for good. “Maybe I was never meant to be a father.” Sally implores him to look at her. “You were meant to be a father. You were meant to be Connor’s father. Who else could love him more or be more fiercely protective of him than you?” Even people who aren’t his biggest fan know Connor is his heart and soul. Adam cries, “I would die for him.” Sally replies, “Then live for him.” Give him what he needs to fight this. Adam asks, “How does he fight this, Sally? How will he manage this?” He wants to take it away. He’ll have to live with this for the rest of his life.
