The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that the 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be handed out on June 7 – and Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers) is a contender for one of the night’s biggest awards.
Stafford was recently nominated in the category of Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series: Actress, so fans are excited to see if she’ll take home the statuette.
In a new interview with SOD, Stafford opened up about her nomination and all the excitement. When asked which episodes she submitted, here’s what Stafford had to say.
“Well, now you just do a certain amount. It’s not episodes anymore, it’s not full shows, but I did just the culmination of Phyllis spinning out and then pleading to not be put in jail,” Stafford revealed.
It’s always fun to hear what soap stars like Stafford put in their Daytime Emmy reels, especially for those of us who watch the actual storylines play out on-screen from week to week.
It sounds like Stafford picked some excellent scenes since Phyllis’ spin-out was certainly memorable. We wish the best of luck to Stafford along with her fellow nominees.
As for who Stafford will be competing against, Tamara Braun (Ava Vitali, Days of Our Lives), Finola Hughes (Anna Devane, General Hospital), Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Logan, The Bold and the Beautiful), Annika Noelle (Hope Logan, The Bold and the Beautiful) and Cynthia Watros (Nina Reeves, General Hospital) scored lead actress noms, too.
Stafford also made a confession about the upcoming ceremony since she thinks she might fly solo this time around.
Although Stafford took her daughter to the last Daytime Emmy Awards, she hinted about maybe skipping a plus one this year and just focusing on celebrating her Y&R coworkers as well as the show itself.
