Now that Nicholas Alexander Chavez has confirmed that he is not returning to General Hospital as Spencer, Tabyana Ali’s Trina is no longer in a holding pattern. She can — and has to — more forward. But how? That is the question.

Luckily, Ali herself has the answer. As sweet as her character is, she’d like to see Trina become a card-carrying “badass… I want her to just be… cool, to have another side of her,” she tells Soap Opera Digest. “I think she’s such a kind person. I would like her to have a vendetta story or a revenge story.”

That’s a tricky one, considering that the person against whom she’d most likely hold a grudge — Spencer’s conniving ex, Esme — went overboard along with him. Avery Kristen Pohl isn’t coming back, either. So perhaps there’s another option?

You bet. Ali is full of ideas, fun ones, too. The show could write that “the love of her life is gone, and now she just turned evil a little bit,” she suggests. “But I don’t know how much that would be possible. She’s such a kind-hearted person at her core.”

Then again, Trina faced so many obstacles in getting together with Spencer in the first place. To have her boyfriend yanked away from her so soon after they overcame them all… it’s cruel, right? And that kind of cruelty can change a person.

That being the case, if Trina did take a walk on the wild side, it might provide yet another opportunity for her to bond with Ava. Portia would want to help her daughter, and she’d try, of course. But when it comes to wickedness, no one is more of an expert than Ava, who could warn Trina with the voice of experience what happens when one plays with fire!
