It’s been four decades and a divorce or ten in coming, but Nikki and Victor’s big 40th anniversary celebration on The Young and the Restless is just about here! The party kicks off tomorrow, on Friday, April 12, and with Jordan running around, slapping disguises on and planning mayhem, it’s guaranteed to be an explosive event!

Of course, celebrating the anniversary of Nikki and Victor’s first wedding is all well and good, but more than that, the two are hoping to bait Jordan out of hiding and put an end to her threat once for good. Unfortunately, it sounds like they’re going to get what they want. But as that old maxim goes, “Be careful what you wish for…”

Executive producer and headwriter Josh Griffith spoke with Soap Opera Digest about the event, making it clear that Nikki’s struggling not just with Jordan’s terror, but with the drinking that’s spiraled out of it. But, he adds, “she may really need to hit rock bottom before making the decision to stop drinking.”

If that’s the case, then we may have good news and bad news for Nikki, because if what we suspect is true, she and the rest of the family may be hitting bottom sooner than they think.

Right now, they think they’re outsmarting Jordan, from the planning to including her manipulated niece.

“Victor knows that reuniting with Claire is too hard to resist for Jordan,” Griffith noted, “and appreciates that Claire’s presence might help trap Jordan once and for all.”

That’s all well and good, but including Claire to draw Jordan out may just be more than they can handle. “Family means everything to Victor,” the executive producer explained, “and Jordan quickly learns that attacking Victor’s family may be the method to get the ultimate revenge against Victor and Nikki. Jordan hatches a dangerous plan that leads to a shocking turn of events for both the Newmans and the Abbotts.”

The Newmans and the Abbotts? Well, that doesn’t bode well — especially when we take into consideration Jordan’s tendency to attack family. And while we’re at it, the photo previews of the big day aren’t looking good either — from Jack and Diane’s panic back home (we’re guessing after they return from the party), to Summer’s worried phone call.

And then there’s Claire sitting with Harrison. Is Victor’s plan going to work a little too well and put not just Claire in Jordan’s line of fire, but Harrison as well? “As Victor has continued to outsmart Jordan,” Griffith mused to Digest, “her hatred for the Newmans intensified and became even more deadly.”

That’s nothing but bad news for them. Back when she first showed up, Jordan was willing to kill off all the adult members of the Newman family. Now? She could start going after the kids. Maybe she’s not so far gone as to kill them, but drawing them into her plans could still put their lives at risk — and scar them for the rest of their lives.

For now, all we can do is hope for the best… and plan for the worst.
