If there’s one thing Days of Our Lives has never had a shortage of, it’s bad guys. Right now, Salem seems to be dealing with a glut of villains, from Konstantin to (if he’s as scary as Blake Berris hints) “Bobby” and Clyde and his henchwoman Officer Goldman. They’ve been frustratingly hard to stamp out, but it seems like Clyde’s plans, at least, have finally unraveled. Steve and John just broke him out of prison, only for him to run off.

But have we seen the last of him, or is there still more havoc for him to unleash in Salem? Like a bad penny, he just keeps popping up. He may have finally gone too far, though. And no, we aren’t talking about that makeout session he and Goldman shared before running off! (Lucy Icsoaptweets seemed to get to the heart of fan reaction over on X/Twitter: “So, Goldman and Clyde. Super gross.”)

This time, though Clyde’s ticked off some powerful, vengeful people — and perhaps more importantly, put John, Steve and Ava in an awkward position now that they’re responsible for his getting away. Those three, as spoilers for this week suggest, are hung up on their role in his escape, with Steve feeling especially guilty.

Stephen Nichols spoke with Soap Opera Digest about the impossible position Clyde’s put them in, saying, “Steve knows that with Clyde on the run, both he and John are in a dangerous position if Clyde decides to tell the authorities who was responsible for breaking him out of prison.”

And that’s the last thing they need, especially with Konstantin running around dredging up the past and doing his best to make life miserable for Team Black Patch. As if John’s not feeling bad enough about Clyde’s escape, by the end of the week, Kon’s going to finally fill him in on what he supposedly did to Catharina as The Pawn!

So is it any surprise that, as Nichols delicately puts it, “Steve considers drastic measures” for Clyde? The man’s got to be at the edge of his rope between Tripp’s disappearance, Clyde’s strong-arming and Konstantin’s near-constant harassment. So why not take some “drastic” action to resolve at least one of his problems?

We know Steve’s not above putting someone in the ground. And while he isn’t necessarily the type of person (anymore) to kill someone just to keep himself out of trouble, Clyde kind of has it coming. He’s not a good man. He murdered Steve’s niece, Abigail, flooded the town with drugs, put Holly in a coma, had Tripp kidnapped and nearly killed and likely had the Horton house burned down. And that’s just scratching the surface of a lifetime of crime and horrors.

So while the law may not agree with Steve killing Clyde, we don’t think there’s a single person in Salem who would mind that much. In fact, now that we’ve gone through some of our crimes, it seems like there’s no way Days of Our Lives could just let him run off without a trace!

This time, the only way for Clyde to pay for his horrible crimes may be with his own blood.
