At this point, General Hospital has us all patting ourselves on the back for having figured out that duh, “Stone” is “Stone Cold,” aka Jason, fresh from the “grave” and about to make an explosive return to the scene. But that “pre-reveal,” if you will, may just be smoke and mirrors to cover up the bigger shock that the show has in store: that not only is Morgan alive, but he’s the other shooter.

Ever since Sonny and Carly’s son “perished” in 2016, leaving behind no body to identify, fans have speculated that it’s only a matter of time until he returns. Now would seem to be that time. Follow along, OK? This is gonna be good.

The Evidence Is Stacking Up

In the February 23 episode, we learned that two masked men pulled over the transport van carrying Olivia Jerome and brought her ride to the ultimate end. What’s more, the tag team left the guards unharmed; in other words, they weren’t on some killing spree and took care to protect the innocent.

Sounds a lot like something Jason might do, no? But it doesn’t explain why he wouldn’t have already told his friends and family that he’s alive. That’s because in the years that he was “away,” he fell into the clutches of FBI agent Jagger John, who took advantage of the hitman’s amnesia to reprogram him as an operative. Essentially, John has found a way to use Sonny’s best friend as a weapon against him — a weapon with which he intends to off the godfather of Port Charles!

In fact, it could have been John’s experiments on Morgan that perfected the brainwashing technique that the fed used on Jason. He could have transformed Morgan into “Stone,” aka a replacement for the little brother that he loved and lost while he was in Sonny’s care. And how much would the erstwhile Jagger love to hurt Sonny as badly as he could, considering that he got late ex-wife Karen hooked on drugs and kept Stone one degree of separation away from the Mob!

Re: Casting

As luck would have it, with Bryan Craig’s primetime series Good Trouble cancelled, the Emmy winner is available to raise Morgan from his empty grave. Or the soap could recast, perhaps with Robert Adamson (ex-Noah, Young & Restless), who made such an impression when he subbed for Chad Duell as Michael. Heck, General Hospital could probably even recruit Adamson’s replacement, Rory Gibson, who’s been MIA from Young & Restless for ages. Or let Bold & Beautiful funnyman Darin Brooks (ex-Wyatt) tackle the action-hero role… The possibilities are endless.
