Steve brings Kayla yellow roses at home after she left them in the office. She scrolls on her tablet, ignoring him. He apologizes for disappointing her, but he was afraid he was going to lose his son. She knows he feels bad for what he did, and because she loves him, she is going to forgive him. However, she needs to stay mad at him for at least today. She thanks him for the flowers and yanks them from his hand.

Tate eats with Marlena and John at the Pub. Marlena asks how he feels about not being allowed to see Holly. He says it sucks because Holly is his friend, but it’s probably for the best.

At the Kiriakis mansion, Maggie tells Holly how proud she is of her for telling the truth about the drugs. When she goes to get them tea and lemon bars, Holly sends Tate an S.O.S. text: “I’ve got to get out of here.”

Everett stops Stephanie in the Square to apologize for everything. He knows it’s been hard on her and that it’s hurt her friendship with Jada. Stephanie rigidly tells him they worked it out, but it’s also none of his concern. However, she is curious if he still has feelings for Jada. Everett doesn’t know how he could have feelings for someone he doesn’t even know. She wonders why he didn’t sign the divorce papers then. Everett won’t forge the name of a man he doesn’t even know. Stephanie points out he does know him. He was ID’d as Robert Stein. Everett’s expression darkens as he harshly shushes her. “Don’t call me that. Don’t you ever call me that again.”

A frazzled Ava comes to Harris’ room above the Pub and pulls him into a kiss.

Since Steve is still in the doghouse, he tells Kayla everything about Konstantin, John, and Catharina’s death. Because he spent so much time protecting John, he neglected to deal with his own guilt and shame. It’s time he did.

After getting Holly’s text, Tate lies to his grandparents that he needs to go study with a friend. John and Tate engage in playful banter before Tate gets up for water refills. Alone, Marlena notes how nice it is to see John smile. John says his talk with Harris gave him some perspective. He’s trying to remind himself that he was a victim, too. And if Konstantin can forgive him, maybe he can do the same thing.

Marlena muses he’s struggling with leading a dual life and with feelings he has for Jada that he’s not ready to accept. She asks if he’d like to try hypnosis again. He says somethings are better left unknown and leaves.

In the Square with coffee, Kayla tries to process everything Stephanie tells her about Everett/Bobby. Kayla uneasily shifts, recounting how she asked Marlena if she thought Everett was faking memory loss. Marlena didn’t have a clear answer, but she didn’t rule out the possibility.

Tate and Holly kiss in the park

In the park, Tate and Holly lean in to kiss, but stop when Kayla and Stephanie approach. The teens ask them not to tell their parents they saw them together. The Johnson women agree and head off. Holly and Tate decide to part as well and kiss.

Back in the Square, Kayla feels bad about not telling Tate and Holly’s parents they saw them. Stephanie does, too, but compares it to everyone telling Kayla to stay away from Steve when they were younger. She even sees the similarity with her and Everett. Accept, she’s the one telling herself to stay away. Stephanie knows she should hate him, but she’s drawn to him and feels bad for what he’s going through. Kayla wants to protect her and tell her to move on, but she’s also proud of how compassionate she is.
